What is Resolved all about?

Resolved Bible Church is a non-denominational church that seeks to worship God in all things and spread the good news of hope in Christ to our community.

Our desire is to bring all people to delight in the beauty and glory of God. This will not be done by providing a religious experience or by forcing one to fit an external set of standards. This will be done by pointing one another to the person and work of Christ as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. It is in Christ and His Word that our hope and joy is found.

When the beauty and grace of God made known to us in Jesus Christ begins to capture our minds, it is then that our desires and affections begin to change. We join together to worship not out of fear or pride or obligation but out of a sincere affection for the excellencies of God.

This heart transformation changes everything! It changes every relationship—with our spouse, children, neighbors, co-workers, and bosses. It changes the way we work; the way we view our hobbies; and even the way we view our sports.

To truly experience the beauty of Christ is the greatest joy man could ever know. After all it is returning to the way God created us, which is the greatest life man will ever know.

So come on out and be a part of this life-transforming, joy-filled journey to know the kindness of our God to us in Jesus!

DIRECTIONS

What to Expect?

So we're excited that you're checking out the website and hope you might consider coming by to worship and fellowship with us this weekend!

There's a place for everyone at Resolved! On Sundays, bring your Bibles and get ready to learn deeply from God's Word.

We gather every Sunday, where you'll hear our musicians play rich, stirring, God-focused music, not as a performance but as an act of focusing our attention on God. You'll also hear substantive gospel messages that regularly engage real life and current cultural issues.

As we grow in our relationship with God, we know that our relationships with one another are enhanced and strengthened. We also know God will utilize us for his glory, to make a difference here in the Inland Empire and around the world.

You'll find that we preach the transformational gospel of Jesus Christ unapologetically in our God-centered worship services. Our desire in all that we do is to bring glory to God. We hope you join us at a weekend service and more importantly, that you'll choose to make this your home church. You'll learn we're not perfect, we've been saved by the One Who is. We’d love to have you join us on Sunday at 10 a.m. service.

Here’s what you’ll find:

• Friendly people. We'd love to meet you, so feel free to introduce yourself. Please let us know what we can do to care for you while you're here.

• A relaxed atmosphere. You'll notice some folks who like to dress up for church and others who don't. Feel free to wear what's comfortable for you, and you'll fit right in.

• Passionate worshipers. Our meetings include contemporary music and preaching from the Bible.

What We Believe

Scriptures

We believe the Scriptures - the 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament - provide God’s authoritative written revelation to mankind (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Galatians 1:12). God interacted with the human writers of those books so that every word of the original texts was exactly as He wanted (2 Peter 1:20-21) and without error1 (John 17:17). The Scriptures are the supreme and final authority (Psalm 19:7-11; Psalm 119; Romans 10:17; Hebrews 4:12).

God

We believe there is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 2:5) in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; John 6:27; John 10:30; 1 Corinthians 3:16); one in nature, attributes, and glory. These three are one God (2 Corinthians 13:14), infinite (Malachi 3:6; Acts 17:24), eternal (Hebrews 1:8), unchangeable (James 1:17), all wise (Romans 11:33), all powerful (Isaiah 40), all knowing (Psalm 147:5), holy (Isaiah 6:3), just (Psalm 9:16), loving (1 John 4:7-21), gracious (Romans 3:23-24; Galatians 3:18), good (Psalm 100:5), and true (Isaiah 45:19). He is everywhere present, yet not part of His creation (Psalm 139:7-12).

GOD the FATHER

We believe that the Father is God (Isaiah 64:8). He begins and ends all things according to His own purpose and grace (Psalm 90:2). He is the Creator (Revelation 4:11) and Sustainer (Psalm 104) of all things, and the spiritual Father of believers (1 John 5:11). He expresses Himself in relationships with those whom He chooses, binding Himself to them by His eternal promises (Genesis 9:9; 17:7-9; 2 Samuel 7:8-16; Jeremiah 31:31- 34; Romans 8:29-30; Hebrews 10:16). He is loving (Ephesians 2:3-5), long-suffering, and not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (John 3:17; 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9).

GOD the SON

We believe that Jesus Christ is God (John 10:30; Colossians 1:17; Titus 3:4-5). He is fully God (John 1:1-2, 14; John 17:1-5) and fully man (Philippians 2:5-8). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25), lived a sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15), performed miracles (Matthew 11:4-5; John 2:11), died as the only sufficient sacrifice for our sins, and was buried (Matthew 20:28; John 1:29; Romans 3:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4; Hebrews 10:5-14; 1 Peter 3:18). He was resurrected bodily (Matthew 28:5-10), appeared to the apostles and other witnesses (1 Corinthians 15:5-8), ascended to heaven (Acts 1:9), was glorified (1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 2:9), and now intercedes for believers (Romans 8:34).

GOD the HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4). He convicts people of sin (John 16:8-11) and restrains the extent of sin in the world (Genesis 6:3; 2 Thessalonians 2:7). He opens the hearts and minds of people (Romans 8:16; 1 Corinthians 2:12-14) to turn from sin (2 Corinthians 3:2-3; Romans 8:1-14), believe in the Son (1 Thessalonians 1:2-5), and be born again (John 3:3-7).

At the moment of salvation the Holy Spirit comes to live within every believer forever (John 14:16; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30). He fills believers with His power (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 3:16), enables them to live in obedience to the will of God (Galatians 5:16- 26), teaches them (1 Corinthians 2:13-15; 1 John 2:27), and gives them His gifts “to each one individually just as He wills,” to serve the church (1 Corinthians 12:7,11; Romans 12:4-8; 1 Peter 4:10; Ephesians 4:11).

The Holy Spirit provides gifts to believers to serve the body of Christ and to reach the world with the gospel (1 Corinthians 12:4-7; 1 Peter 4:10). Spiritual gifts should be used in a proper and orderly manner (1 Corinthians 14:40), in love (1 Corinthians 14:1), and without causing division (1 Corinthians 12:25). Spiritual gifts are not an indication of spiritual maturity and they should not be used for self-promotion (1 Corinthians 12:11-12).

We believe that sign gifts (apostle, prophet, healing, miracles, and tongues) authenticated the ministry and message of the apostles (Ephesians 2:20;Hebrews 2:1-4; 2 Corinthians 12:12) and served in the establishment of the church (Acts 2:41-47; 9:31-42). We believe that God continues to demonstrate His miraculous power and ability to heal; but the sign gifts, as given to the early church, are not in effect today.
Angels

We believe that God created angels as spiritual beings to glorify and serve Him. Angels also act as God’s messengers and minister to believers. Although powerful, they are never to be worshipped (Colossians 1:16; 2:18; Psalm 103:20; Hebrews 1:13-14; Revelation 22:8-9). Satan, an angel of high rank, led many angels in a rebellion against God, bringing judgment against himself and his followers (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:12-19; John 16:11; 2 Peter 2:4). Satan tempted Adam and Eve into rebellion against God (Genesis 3:1-19; 2 Corinthians 11:3) and continues, with other fallen angels (demons), to deceive and tempt all of mankind and actively oppose the purposes of God (2 Corinthians 11:14; Ephesians 6:10-18; 1 Timothy 4:1; Revelation 12:9). By His sacrifice on the cross, Jesus Christ defeated Satan and his demons; they will be thrown into the lake of fire forever at the last judgment (Matthew 25:41; John 12:31-32; 1 John 3:8; Revelation 20:10).

Origins

We believe that God spoke the heavens, the earth and all living things into existence in six days. God directly created the original kinds of plants and animals and ordered them to reproduce after their kind. In its original form, the creation was very good and untouched by sin. Man is unique, created in the image of God, and did not originate from any other living thing (Genesis 1 & 2; 5:1-2; 9:6; Exodus 20:11; Psalm 33:6-9; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17).

Sin

We believe that God created Adam and Eve, the first humans, without sin and in perfect fellowship with Him (Genesis 1:26-28, 31; 2:18-24; James 3:9). They chose to sin by disobeying God and incurred His judgment. Their sin separated them from Him and brought suffering and death upon themselves, their descendants, and the whole creation (Genesis 3; Psalm 14:1-3; 51:5; Romans 8:20-22). Mankind’s continued unbridled wickedness brought further judgment, which destroyed the earth in a world-wide flood (Genesis 6-8; 2 Peter 2:4-5). After the flood, mankind’s continued rebellion at Babel brought God’s judgment in confusing their language and scattering them over the face of the earth (Genesis 11:1-9; Luke 1:51). We inherit Adam’s sin nature (Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12), are spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:1), and are sinners ourselves (Romans 3:10, 23; 5:12). Consequently, none of us are able by our efforts to reconcile ourselves to God (Galatians 3:22; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 8:8).

Salvation

We believe that we are given salvation from sin and its penalty as a free gift from God (Romans 6:23) through faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone, unaided by human effort (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5- 7). The death of Christ is full payment for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3; Hebrews 9:11-15; 1 Peter 1:18-21) and satisfies the just requirement of God (Romans 3:23-26; Hebrews 10:1-10). Made alive by God (1 Corinthians 15:22; Ephesians 2:4-7; 1 Peter 3:18), we are no longer slaves to sin (Romans 6), but are children of God (John 1:12; Romans 8:14-17; Galatians 3:26), disciples set apart to a life of spiritual growth, ministry, love, and good works (Ephesians 2:10; Colossians 1:10-14; 3:12-17; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:2). We have forgiveness for every sin (Ephesians 1:7; 1 John 1:9) and rest secure in the reality of eternal life (John 5:24; 6:39-40; 10:27-30; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 1 John 5:9-13).

Family

We believe that God created and blessed the family as the foundation of society. Marriage unites one man and one woman in a lifetime commitment to each other (Genesis 2:23-24; Matthew 19:4-6). Marriage provides for intimate companionship, pure sexual expression (Genesis 2:25;Ephesians 5:31-33), procreation, and reflects the relationship of Christ and the church (Genesis 1:28; Proverbs 5:15-19; 1 Corinthians 7:1-5). A husband is commanded to love his wife as Christ loved the church. A wife is commanded to submit to her husband as the church submits to Christ (Ephesians 5:22-33).

Children are a gift from God and are fully human from conception (Psalm 127:3; 139:13-16). Parents are to train their children by modeling a godly life, teaching them the Scriptures, disciplining them in love, and providing them a resource of wisdom and counsel (Deuteronomy 6:4-7; Proverbs 1:8-9; 13:24; 22:6). Parents are to care for the needs of their children (2 Corinthians 12:14; Ephesians 6:4). Children are to obey their parents with respect and honor, caring for them in the time of their dependency and old age (Exodus 20:12; Leviticus 19:32; Proverbs 23:22; Ephesians 6:1-3; Colossians 3:20; 1 Timothy 5:8).

Church

We believe that Christ established the church and is the Head of the church (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18). The church comprises believers from its beginning at Pentecost until the return of Christ (Acts 2; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58). Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the church carries out Christ’s work in the world (John 15:26; Acts 1:8). The purpose of the church is to worship, praise, and glorify God by proclaiming the gospel of Christ Jesus to the entire world (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8); by teaching His Word (Colossians 1:24- 28; 1 Timothy 4:11); by seeking Him through earnest prayer (Acts 2:42); by equipping the saints to walk, serve, and fellowship in the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:42-46; Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 14:26); and by keeping the ordinances (1 Corinthians 11:24, 25; Matthew 28:19).

We believe that the Lord gave two ordinances to the church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is for believers and is a public testimony of faith in Christ in obedience to His command (Matthew 28:19). Baptism identifies the believer with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

Future

We believe that Jesus Christ will physically return in the air to take the church out of the world to be with Him forever (John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Scripture tells us to be ready always for His coming (1 Thessalonians 5:4-6; Revelation 22:20). At that moment, the dead in Christ and living believers will be given their eternal bodies (1 Corinthians 15:51-53). Jesus Christ will then bring a seven- year period of wrath upon the earth known as the tribulation5 (1 Thessalonians 5:2, 3; Revelation 6-18). At the end of this period of judgment, He will return bodily (Acts 1:9-11; Zechariah 14:4-8) with the church to set up a kingdom to rule in righteousness the entire earth for a thousand years (Revelation 19:1-20:6; Matthew 13:41-43).

The kingdom will end in rebellion against Christ and His people(Revelation 20:7-9), but the rebellion will fail in the face of Christ’s victory over Satan and all who oppose Him (Revelation 20:9-10). The unbelieving dead of all time will then be raised and given eternal bodies to face God in final judgment (Revelation 20:11), after which they will be thrown into the lake of fire to eternal torment (Revelation 20:15). Believers will enter a new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1-22:6) prepared for them to enjoy perfect, everlasting fellowship with God.

Our Identity

We began in the fall of 2008 with a small group of leaders and a growing excitement about expanding God's work into the outlying parts of the Inland Empire. God has blessed our ministry, and is at work in exciting ways to make Jesus known and treasured among the people of the Inland Empire communities. Resolved Bible Church is a brand new faith community forming in the Ontario, Chino, Corona (Eastvale) and Mira Loma communities.

Our deepest desire is to bring glory to God through lives changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a church on a mission to call all people to full devotion to Jesus Christ. God is our supreme treasure and we exist to glorify Him above all things. We strive to connect people with Jesus Christ for their joy and the glory of God.

[ Vision ]
Seeking to build a gospel-centered and gospel-proclaiming body that makes disciples and loves and serves the community around us.

[ Mission Statement ]  To create an authentic Christian community that effectively reaches out to unchurched people in love, acceptance, and forgiveness so that they too may experience the joy of salvation, a purposeful life of discipleship and active ministry for the glory of God.

[ Goals and Purpose ]
To equip believers to greater faithfulness to Jesus Christ, to proclaim the gospel to unbelievers, to affirm the Bible’s authority over the life of every person, and for growth and accountability.

CONNECT WITH US

Relationships are an important part of life. We have them pretty much in every aspect of our lives: family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. God desires for us to have a strong relationship with those in the church. In fact, He describes those in the church as “one body,” all working together in various roles to carry out the work of Christ. Community is a priority of Resolved Bible Church. Our Life Groups are the main connecting point for individuals of Resolved.

These groups are designed for a time of developing relationships, learning about God and the Bible, and serving the community. Also, formally joining Resolved Bible Church as a member furthers enhances our connection to each other.

What is a Community Fellowship?

The mission of God is to restore all things to Himself in and through the work and person of Jesus Christ. His chosen vehicle through which he is accomplishing that mission is the church. As God restores us to himself, he is also restoring us to each other. This restoring work does not happen in isolation, but in and through our relationships. Community Fellowships allow you to connect with others and build closer relationships.  Community fellowships are basic Christian communities where Christians grow (discipleship happens) and where the gospel grows (evangelism happens).

In community fellowships,
•    people come to know God and to experience His presence,
•    personal relationships are developed and fostered, and
•    people are nurtured, equipped and released to do God's work in the world.

Childrens

“From infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” - 2 Timothy 3:15

The Children’s Ministry exists to Equip the next generation, so that they will be able to Express the Gospel and then be able, as they become young adults, to Expand the Gospel.

The Children’s Ministry seeks to guide the children to Christ, inspiring them to live God-centered lives. We consider it a privilege to minister to your children. We take this responsibility seriously and we want you to know that your child is in safe and capable hands.

We believe that families are the core of spiritual development. It is our job to come alongside parents and provide tools, tips, and opportunities to encourage spiritual development at home.

Our vision
is that children will begin a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our mission
is to partner with families as a nurturing, biblical community that provides child-relevant and age-appropriate opportunities for children, so they can come to know Him, learn to love Him, and be equipped to serve Him.

STUDENT MINISTRY

MIDDLE SCHOOL (grades 7th and 8th)

Student Ministries is our dynamic ministry to Middle School and High School students, 7th-12thgrades.  Our goal is to encourage students to live out the gospel, equip them to serve, and influence others for Christ. We help them to discover and utilize their gifts and talents for God's greater glory.

It is our conviction that the culture of the world we live in sets extremely low expectations for what they call “adolescents” and thus fosters the stereotypical self-indulgent “teenager” and its various manifestations of behavior and attitude at home, at school, at church and at play.

We learn from the bible and see in our Lord’s life that youth were expected to begin maturing and living out their own spiritual and social lives at around age 12. We then see Junior High School as a time of transition from late childhood into young adulthood.

It is our goal to challenge and nurture Junior High School students to begin preparing their hearts and minds for the challenges of life that surely face them in the years ahead of them. The sure foundation of a successful life is faith in Jesus Christ as set forth by God in His word. As such our Junior High Students are presented with and challenged by the teaching of the Word of God in our gatherings.

High School (grades 9th - 12th)

Today’s High School student is under immense pressure from the world around them. They are bombarded with influences from every direction that tell them who they should be in order to be “somebody”, not only now but in the future as well.

They are pressured by their peers as to what they should look like, how they should dress, how they should talk, who they should and shouldn’t hang out with, how they should act, and what is “cool” and what is not. In the midst of trying to conform to the group they are all trying to be different in order to stand out as well. How confusing this is for our future generations. If they don’t adhere to this code of conduct they are ostracized and find themselves on the outside of “acceptable”. Unfortunately, these messages foster bondage to a self-absorbed lifestyle that finds our youth trying to keep up on the ever changing treadmill of local pop culture that can never bring satisfaction. It is a work out that wears out and never brings relief from the storm.

Our one true hope for today’s youth is that the love of Christ and the truth of God are more than able to set them free to be who God created them to be. To that end we provide a safe atmosphere where students can relax and enjoy being in a community of people who are constantly encouraged to live and love like Christ lived and loved us.

COLLEGE & CAREER (UNDIVIDED)

Never have young adults faced so many choices and possibilities as they begin stheir “real” lives out on their own, either working or in college or both. The world beckons them to strive for riches, beauty, power and the status these bring in our culture. They face societal confusion about gender roles, what it means to be a real man, what it means to be a real woman and how these should inform their single as well as married and family lives.

There are many sources of answers to these and many other questions faced by our young people. Most of these sources point our young people back to themselves as “individuals” who must go out and make something of themselves. While we believe we are responsible for our thoughts, actions and attitudes, we also know that our focus must be on losing our lives for Christ’s sake if we ever have any hope of finding them.

We must get outside ourselves and into the love of Christ if we are ever to become vital parts of God’s answer to society’s self-dependent tendencies and its consequences.

So our goal is to equip our young adult population with God’s truth in answer to the questions of life they face. We want to see God raise up biblical young men and biblical young women who serve Christ as beacons of hope for a lost and broken world.

Marriage Couples (Homebuilders)

Resolved Bible Church is committed to helping couples have strong marriages. We offer opportunities for you and your spouse (or future spouse) to gain a better understanding of each other and God's role in your marriage.  At Resolved Bible Church, we’re passionate about pursuing God’s design for marriage.

Strong marriages are fundamental to strong families and strong churches.  More than that, in Ephesians 5 the Bible teaches that our marriages are to reflect Christ and his relationship with the church.  What a privilege—and responsibility!  That’s why we look to God to build up the marriages in this church, even as we seek to promote marriage in various ways.

Women

Equipping Women is a small group ministry for women.

Our hope for every woman is to possess a deep and abiding love of the triune God, a firm grasp of the gospel of Jesus Christ, an understanding of God’s wonderful design in creating her to reflect his image in a distinctly feminine way, and a heart to employ her gifts in loving and serving others at home, in the church, and in our community.

As a women’s ministry, we want to play a part in helping this come to pass. We believe that as women we are uniquely called and gifted to help one another reflect the gospel (Titus 2:3-5). Under the oversight of the elders, we desire to complement the efforts of the other ministries of the church as we provide opportunities where women can connect with one another, teach one another, learn from one another, and serve one another.

Please check out some of the plans we have for this year. Iit is our prayer that you will find some of them to be a means of strengthening and encouraging you in your walk with the Lord!

Men

Master's Men is a small group ministry for men.

Most men face the constant, daily pressures of work and increasingly demanding travel schedules.  Very often, the negative impact of our work lives is felt at the level of our families and our personal relationships with God.  The result is often isolation – from the Lord, from our families, and from other Christians.

RBC Men's Ministry seeks to:

Enlist all men in His service
Encourage men in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
Equip men to develop the personal skills necessary to serve God as Elders, Deacons and other church leaders
Engage men in Christian fellowship with other men through Prayer, Bible Study, Worship, Small Group Interaction, and Ministry Activities

It is our desire that every man be:

Committed to telling "his story" of God's work in his life
Committed to understand and fulfill his biblical role
Committed to personal Bible study and prayer
Committed to meet with other men for accountability, fellowship, study and prayer

Community Fellowship
At Resolved we value life lived together in community. That is why we have community groups that meet throughout the greater Inland Empire area. We don’t believe we are called to live out this journey alone, but with one another. As we share life together we see that God can use others in our lives as well as us in the lives of others. Our life groups are designed to facilitate Gospel transformation in our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit in the context of authentic community.

Local Community: We love to proclaim Christ to our neighbors, and we know that our words must be accompanied by generosity and mercy. The true gospel is lived out in acts of kindness and love to the community around us. By this love in action and our love one for another, we will demonstrate to the world that God is love and that He renews our hearts and minds. It is our goal and desire that every person who visits Resolved will feel a warm acceptance and a place to belong.

Support Resolved

Giving is an act of worship. At Resolved, we believe that God is the Giver of all that we have. We give back to Him as an act of worship with gratitude in our hearts. We give our time, talents, and treasure to be used by Him for His glory. When you give, you are not giving to a church, an organization, or the church staff; you are giving to God. He has blessed us to bless others. He only asks that we give back a portion of what He has entrusted to us.

It is through this commitment of giving that hearts can be reached, lives can be changed, and hope can be restored as we share the Good News of Jesus Christ at home and abroad.

The ministry of Resolved Bible Church is funded by God’s provision through the tithes and offerings of our faithful church members, partners, and attendees. We desire to honor God’s provision by exercising wise and faithful stewardship, ethical business practices, and full accountability so that the financial integrity of Resolved remains beyond reproach.

Stewardship

The faithful use of our resources begins with realizing that God owns everything! All that we have comes from him, and therefore we don’t really own anything; we are merely stewards—overseers or managers—over things that belong to God.

Psalm 50:10-12: “For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine.”

Faithful stewardship of our resources is an indicator of our spiritual health. When we are generous and faithful in managing and giving of our resources, we show that our trust is in God—that God, not our possessions, is the source of our life.

Matthew 6:19-21: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

A Giving Heart

Scripture has much to say about our motives and attitudes toward giving. Here is a sampling:

Giving is to be generous, not stingy. 2 Corinthians 9:6: “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”

Giving is to be enthusiastic, not grudging. 2 Corinthians 9:7: “Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Giving is to be discreet, not showy. Matthew 6:3-4: “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

Giving is to be with faith, not anxiety. Malachi 3:10: “Bring the full tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”

Ways to Give

Thank you for your faithful and generous support of the ministry of Resolved Bible Church.

On Sunday: Place your gifts in an offering basket during the service.

Check

You can give by check in any worship service or through the mail. You can place your check directly in the offering plate or first place it in an envelope--either one in the pew or one of the member envelopes mailed monthly to all church members. Be sure to note what ministry your gift is meant for on the memo line of your check.

Cash

Cash gifts and offerings should only be given in a worship service (do not send cash through the mail).
Be sure to place cash in a filled-out pew envelope or member envelope.

What It Means to Be a Christian

Being a Christian is more than identifiying yourself with a particular religion or affirming a certain value system. Being a Christian means you have embraced what the Bible says about God, mankind, and salvation. Consider the following truths found in Scripture.

God is Sovereign Creator. Contemporary thinking says man is the product of evolution. But the Bible says we were created by a personal God to love, serve, and enjoy endless fellowship with Him. The New Testament reveals it was Jesus Himself who created everything (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16). Therefore, He also owns and rules everything (Psalm 103:19). That means He has authority over our lives and we owe Him absolute allegiance, obedience, and worship.

God is Holy. God is absolutely and perfectly holy (Isaiah 6:3), therefore He cannot commit or approve of evil (James 1:13). God requires holiness of us as well. First Peter 1:16 says, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."

Mankind is Sinful. According to Scripture, everyone is guilty of sin: "There is no man who does not sin" (1 Kings 8:46). That doesn't mean we're incapable of performing acts of human kindness. But we're utterly incapable of understanding, loving, or pleasing God on our own (Romans 3:10-12).

Sin Demands a Penalty. God's holiness and justice demand that all sin be punished by death and eternity in hell (Ezekiel 18:4). That's why simply changing our patterns of behavior can't solve our sin problem or eliminate its consequences.

Jesus is Lord and Savior. As Creator of all, and Ruler over all, Jesus Christ has authority over our lives and we owe Him absolute allegiance, obedience, and worship. Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." Even though God's justice demands death for sin, His love has provided a Savior who paid the penalty and died for sinners (1 Peter 3:18). Christ's death satisfied the demands of God's justice and Christ's perfect life satisfied the demands of God's holiness (2 Corinthians 5:21), thereby enabling Him to forgive and save those who place their faith in Him (Romans 3:26).

The Character of Saving Faith. True faith is always accompanied by repentance from sin. Repentance is agreeing with God that you are sinful, confessing your sins to Him, and making a conscious choice to turn from sin (Luke 13:3, 5; 1 Thessalonians 1:9) and pursue Christ (Matthew 11:28-30; John 17:3) and obedience to Him (1 John 2:3). It isn't enough to believe certain facts about Christ. Even Satan and his demons believe in the true God (James 2:19), but they don't love and obey Him. True saving faith always responds in obedience (Ephesians 2:10).
